The new racking standards AS4084 explained

Posted on June 26, 2023

Did you know? Australia launched a new pallet racking standard on May 12th.

New Zealand has no unique pallet racking standard that applies specifically, thus we tend to follow the Australian Standard.

The updated standards have replaced the previous standard AS4084:2012 for steel storage racking systems.
The new standards are AS4084.1:2023 which refers to the way pallet racking is designed and AS4084.2:2023 which relates to the operational and maintenance of the system.
One of the notable changes in the new standards is the mandatory requirement for audits to be conducted every 12 months and a requirement that racking audits be conducted by an external provider.

Previously, some businesses may have chosen to perform annual audits internally. However, this is no longer an acceptable practice. If you have been conducting in-house audits or are considering doing so, it is essential you’re aware that this is no longer compliant, and it is crucial to adhere to the new standards.
Here at Storepro, we are well-versed in the latest standards and have a comprehensive understanding of the implications for businesses.
