Types of Pick Shelving
Pick shelving comes in a few different forms, although all have the same aim: to make picking orders as efficient and accurate as possible. At Storepro we offer two main types of pick shelving, and can craft storage solutions that make use of both.
Bin Shelving
This form of pick shelving consists of shelves fitted with bins or containers. It is an effective way to store small, unpackaged parts and items, Bin shelving grants easy access to loose items, and each bin can be clearly labelled to show the inventory it holds. Bins and containers can be supplied as part of a shelving system or separately.
High bay shelving
This tall, sturdy form of shelving is ideal if there is a need to maximise vertical space within each shelving bay, in order to store particularly large or bulky items.
Carton live/flow shelving
Carton live/flow shelving features rollers that use gravity to feed a row of cartons and boxes forward as they are picked. Carton live/flow shelving is ideal for high turnover packaged items as the system is designed for first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory management popular with businesses that deal in perishable products.
